Every May, the Children’s Tumor Foundation – a member charity of Community Health Charities – works in increase awareness of neurofibromatosis, the most common neurological disorder caused by a single gene. Neurofibromatosis, better known as NF, occurs in one of every 3,000 births.

In 2002, when she was just 10 years old, MacKinzie became the Children’s Heart Foundation’s National Spokesperson. “Mac,” as she is known to her family and friends, was born with a complex congenital heart defect, Single Ventricle.
